So you’re addicted to social media?

I’ve been admitting this all year long, but have I done anything about it? Nope.

Why? Because it’s easier to use the excuse of ‘but it’s for my business’ and ‘it’s where all of my clients are’, when in truth, a simple 30 minutes a day would suffice, not a ridiculous 3 hours.

It even feels wild to say that out loud, but I know that I’m not alone at all in this. You too, probably avoid looking at your screen time stats because you know you’ll feel disgusted by how much time you’ve wasted in your day.

The reality is, Instagram has robbed me of my pleasure, my joy and my creativity. Sure, I’m the one to blame here, but when you think about how it’s literal aim is to get you hooked, then I guess you can at least pass off some of the responsibility to the platform causing the same issues all across the world.

Did I take my own initiative to get offline?

Nope.

It was actually a book called The Artist’s Way that I have been following and using as a resource over the last four weeks. If you haven’t heard of it, I strongly encourage you to get on board. No doubt that I will be talking about it in the many weeks to come.

Initially, I didn’t want to. But as soon as the first day ended, I realised how much lighter I felt.

Did I slip up in the week? Yes. Did I hate on myself for doing so? Nope. I’d catch myself, practice kindness to myself and then close it the app. Honestly, that felt like the biggest win, the whole being kind. A different type of self love that I’m not very good at usually.

So I guess what I’m getting at now that I’m slowly bringing Instagram back into my field, is that it cannot be the main platform. That it’s not just me that is getting absolutely exhausted by keeping up with the forever changing algorithms, the pressure of nailing the perfect post, the constant comparison with others and simply feeling like you’re just never going to ‘get there’. There’s a lot of you feeling the lack of inspiration and it just quite simply doesn’t have to be that way.

I’m still mapping out my marketing strategy for the first quarter of 2026, but here’s how we’re looking if we’re taking hierarchy of platforms.

  1. Email Marketing: Nurture sequences with different segmentations as well as weekly newsletter drops.

  2. LinkedIn: I’ll be really utilising LinkedIn to genuinely form connections and discuss more of these topics of conversations. It’ll also be the main place in which I share about branding photography.

  3. Website Blog and SEO: I love writing and I have SO much to share. All that goodness doesn’t deserve to be condensed into an email, so we’re building out this blog. Not just with thoughts and opinions, but with insights into business, marketing, creative strategy and a whole lot of Squarespace and FloDesk tips, tricks + lessons. It’s going to be informative + free.

  4. Instagram: I will still be utilising Instagram, but with more of a focus on Squarespace Websites + FloDesk Email Marketing. This will be a really big emphasis in the first 3 months of 2026 which is really exciting. I’ll be planning out my posts every month, batch creating and then scheduling for the 2 weeks.

  5. Threads: I’m going to use Threads as a real low-key place to have conversations and also direct people to the blog on my website. That way, it might also spark some curiosities about my work. Aka hello pop ups, promotion bars + freebie downloads.

It will be really interesting to see how 2026 pans out, but I definitely feel like there’s a shift happening. Be a part of the change makers + let’s bring back the inspiration.
